Queensland Vehicle Safety Certificates

A QLD safety certificate gives the car buyer much better protection when purchasing a used vehicle. It not only ensures the vehicle’s roadworthiness, it also covers other items including windscreens, suspension, rust, lights and other essential components required for the safe operation of your vehicle.

Obtaining a Safety Certificate

In Queensland, a safety certificate (previously known as a roadworthy certificate) is required when selling or transferring a registered vehicle. The certificate needs to be displayed the moment the car is up for sale. For a private seller, the certificate will last for two months or 2000km. You must produce this safety certificate for inspection by the prospective buyer or buyer’s agent on request. Failure to do this may result in enforcement action.

Contact Alderley Automotive today to arrange your safety certificate inspection.
